Citadel Theatre is pleased to announce auditions for Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, directed by Robert D. Estrin. Joseph, celebrating its 50th anniversary, will be Citadel’s holiday show. Seeking strong singer/dancer/actors.

Audition Dates:

Sunday, June 17, 2018:  10:00am-4:00pm (Principals/Supporting/Ensemble only)

Sunday, June 24, 2018:  1:00pm-4:00pm (Children’s Chorus only)

Callback Dates:

Saturday, June 23, 2018:  10:00am-4:00pm (Principals/Supporting/Ensemble only)

Sunday, June 24, 2018:  11:00am-1:00pm (if needed; Principals/Supporting/Ensemble only)

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Character Descriptions:

NARRATOR(S):  Principal. Female-identifying. 16-50s. Soprano <Low F# / High G>.

**Please note that multiple actors may be cast to share this role.

JOSEPH:  Principal. Male-identifying. 18-early 30s. Tenor <Low A / High G>.

JOSEPH'S BROTHERS:  Supporting. Male-identifying. There are eleven brothers. 16-late 30s. Mixed ranges.

PHARAOH/POTIPHAR/JACOB:  Supporting. Male-identifying. Played by same actor. 30s-mid 50s. Tenor/Baritone <Low A / High G#>.

ENSEMBLE (4):  Supporting. Female-identifying. 16-50s.

CHILDREN'S CHORUS:  Male-identifying/ Female-identifying. Minimum age 9; maximum age 15.

**Please note regarding CHILDREN’S CHORUS and TEENS:  Children’s Chorus’ male voices cannot have changed. Children's Chorus, as well as TEEN Principal/Supporting/Ensemble roles may be double-cast. Children’s Chorus will appear onstage while singing, but will not be a part of onstage action.

Citadel Theatre welcomes actors of all ethnicities, gender identities, and physical abilities.

Materials to Prepare:

PRINCIPALS/SUPPORTING/ENSEMBLE:  For consideration, please prepare two contrasting songs from the selection that will be shared with you as a link upon your audition confirmation. We are looking for legit theatre voices and not belters. If you are not familiar with Joseph, there are at least two cast recordings that will give you the flavor of the show. An accompanist will be provided. Acapella singing will NOT be allowed.

CHILDREN’S CHORUS:  For consideration, please prepare two musical theatre songs, 16-32 bars. The song may NOT be from the show. If you are not familiar with Joseph, there are at least two cast recordings that will give you the flavor of the show. An accompanist will be provided. Acapella singing will NOT be allowed. Please have your music marked for the accompanist.

You must audition and bring an updated headshot and resume even if you have auditioned for Citadel for past seasons. Dance/ movement calls will occur during the designated callback day for Principals/Supporting/Ensemble only.

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Production Dates:

Rehearsals – First Rehearsal either Saturday, October 6, 2018 OR Sunday, October 7, 2018 – Wednesday, November 7, 2018:  Rehearsals will be held four weekdays 7:00pm-10:00pm and one weekend day 10:00am-4:00pm until tech week. Days/times to be determined based on final casting and actor/creative team availability.

Tech Rehearsals – Thursday, November 8, 2018 – Monday, November 12, 2018:  Actors with multiple tech week conflicts may not be under consideration.

Previews & Performances – Tuesday, November 13, 2018 – Saturday, December 23, 2018 (expected to extend through Sunday, December 30, 2018):  Previews on November 13-15 are at 7:30pm. Standard performance schedule includes 7:30pm on Thursdays, 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3:00pm on Sundays. Also includes 1:00pm matinees on Wednesday, November 28; Wednesday, December 5; Saturday, December 22; and Sunday, December 23. From December 18-23, 2018, performances will also be at 7:00pm.

Audition slots will be individually assigned based on the availability of requested time.
