Unsung Heroes:
Grey Sindaco, Teaching Artist & Videographer
In this month’s Unsung Heroes spotlight- where we recognize those who make magic happen from behind the curtain- we honor Grey Sindaco (they/them), a multifaceted artist whose creativity, leadership and dedication have become integral to Citadel Theatre. As a Teaching Artist and the primary choreographer for many of Citadel’s recent productions, Grey has played a central role in shaping the growth and vision of Citadel Theatre Education, helping to build a program grounded in collaboration, inclusion and bold storytelling. Their work in the rehearsal room empowers young artists to move, create and express themselves with confidence, while fostering spaces where every voice belongs.
A Miami native with a BFA in Musical Theatre from Long Island University, Grey has brought their creative spark to stages across South Florida, New York and now Chicago. Their artistic work spans directing, performance, choreography and media, with recent directing credits including 12 Angry Jurors with BTG and a one-act for Steppenwolf’s LookOut Series. As a performer, Grey will soon take the stage as the lead pirate in How I Became a Pirate with Uptown Theatre of Highland Park, continuing a career defined by versatility and fearless storytelling.
Beyond the stage and studio, Grey is also a skilled videographer whose eye for storytelling extends into digital media. Grey has recorded and edited dynamic trailers for Citadel Theatre’s MainStage productions, helping bring the energy and spirit of each show to wider audiences and strengthening the theatre’s connection with the community.
Whether guiding students in the classroom, crafting movement that brings productions to life or capturing the heart of a show through video, Grey Sindaco’s passion, generosity and collaborative spirit embody the very essence of an “unsung hero.” Their work quietly supports every corner of Citadel Theatre, leaving a lasting impact on artists, audiences and the future of the program.
Keep up with their upcoming projects on all platforms @greygoeswitheverything—because, well, it does!
