Unsung Heroes:
Alisa Bay, Public Relations Director
In this month’s Unsung Heroes spotlight - where we recognize those who make magic happen from behind the curtain - we honor Alisa Bay, whose dedication and enthusiasm have become an essential part of Citadel Theatre. Since 2022, Alisa has supported the theatre’s marketing and social media efforts, focusing on maximizing Citadel’s outreach by sharing and promoting content across a wide range of Facebook groups, helping introduce new audiences to the theatre’s productions and mission. Alisa loves everything about working with Citadel - from the collaborative team to the creativity and caliber of its productions - and is proud to be part of an organization that consistently delivers exceptional professional live theatre.
During her first two years at the University of Miami, Alisa was a theatre major before deciding to shift her focus to public relations - a move that reflected her growing interest in working behind the scenes rather than on stage. A fun fact from early in her career: her first job after college was working as a publicist for Richard Simmons promoting him and his fitness studios, Richard Simmons Anatamy Asylums!
In her spare time (when she can find some), Alisa can often be found on the pickleball court or attending other local theatre productions, something she genuinely enjoys as a way to support fellow artists and organizations. She is also highly active in a variety of local networking groups, enthusiastically spreading the word about Citadel and encouraging greater community support for professional live theatre. Alisa hopes the work she does continues to create excitement, expand audiences and showcase all that Citadel Theatre has to offer. Alisa has been married to her husband Jami for 33 years and is the proud mom of 25-year-old twin boys, Joshua and Nathan. Alisa’s energy, loyalty and belief in the power of live theatre continue to build excitement, broaden audiences and strengthen the Citadel family.
