Tax Benefits of Donating in 2025

Dear Friend of Citadel Theatre,

As we wrap up the year, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for everything you’ve done to support Citadel Theatre- whether you’ve attended performances, given to past campaigns, subscribed to our season, attended our fundraising gala, registered your students for education classes, shared your time and enthusiasm, and more. Your support has been essential to the storytelling, educational opportunities and creative work that bring our theatre to life.

A Helpful Year-End Note

Several donors have recently wondered about year-end giving strategies, especially with the anticipated tax changes coming in 2026. Financial advisors have highlighted a few considerations that may be useful as you review your charitable plans:

  • Many high-income taxpayers are choosing to “bunch” or frontload donations in 2025, since current deduction rules are expected to narrow once the new federal provisions take effect in 2026.

  • Advisors note that consolidating several years of intended giving into a single 2025 contribution can often provide a stronger deduction than spacing gifts out over time.

  • For donors 73 or older, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) from retirement accounts remain a highly efficient method of giving, reducing taxable income dollar-for-dollar through required minimum distributions.

We’re sharing this simply because many supporters have found the information helpful as they plan how and when they’d like to give- not as a solicitation for larger gifts.

Your support, in any form or amount, truly makes a difference. A gift to Citadel Theatre’s Naughty & Nice End-of-Year Appeal delivers immediate impact by sustaining our productions, nurturing local artists and expanding our educational programs.

Thank you for being part of the Citadel Theatre family. If you’d like to talk about the impact of your giving, our upcoming season or any aspect of your support, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Warmly,
The Citadel Theatre Team
