Citadel Theatre in Lake Forest, IL seeks video submissions for the roles of William Marshall, Addie, and Cal for immediate casting in Little Foxes (Fall 2018). Seeking non-Equity adult actors of diversity for three principal roles and two understudy roles.

Materials to Prepare:

To be considered for Little Foxes, you will be provided with sides from the play to be submitted through a video audition. For the roles of Addie and Cal, please prepare your sides with a Southern dialect (plantation Southern vs. country) if possible.

Little Foxes by Lillian Hellman

Little Foxes is a riveting drama that captures the story of a Southern family whose selfish pursuit of the American Dream ends up destroying them and those they love.

Little Foxes General:

We are seeking an inclusive cast featuring actors of all body types, abilities, gender identities, and ethnicities. Gender and age in this show is expressive and fluid. Please submit for any character with whom you feel a connection.

Little Foxes Character Descriptions:

Addie – Ethnicity: African American. A servant in the Giddens household. A woman who knows when to laugh and when to speak up. Fiercely protective of those she loves and firm in her sense of judgment.

Cal – Ethnicity: African American. A servant in the Giddens household. Straightforward and sensible; great comic timing a plus.

William Marshall – Ethnicity: African American. An outsider. A Northerner. A great businessman in a great position, and he knows it. An example of what success can look like.

Little Foxes Production Dates:

Rehearsals – August 20, 2018 – September 19, 2018: Weekly rehearsals include 7:00pm-10:00pm Tuesdays-Fridays and 10:00am-4:00pm Saturdays.

Tech Week – Thursday, September 20, 2018 – Monday, September 24, 2018: Actors with tech week conflicts will not be under consideration.

Previews & Performances – Tuesday, September 25, 2018 – Sunday, October 28, 2018: Previews on September 25-27 are at 7:30pm. Standard performance schedule includes 7:30pm on Thursdays, 8:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3:00pm on Sundays. Also includes 1:00pm matinees on Wednesday, October 3 and October 17.
