Sketch Comedy
Ages 14 – 18
Is there a difference between Sketch Comedy and Improv? The answer is YES! While both require the art of making comedy on the spot, sketch comedy requires the actor to engage in the process of creating a loose script to guide their improv and acting skills. Second City is a prime example of what an awesome production sketch comedy results in. Come unleash your imagination, confidence, and spontaneity while honing your skills as an actor. Side-by-side with the instructor, students will work in tangent to write a sketch that will be performed the final half hour of class. All improv basics will be touched upon: how to give and take with other performers on stage, how to think quickly on your feet, and how to be part of ensemble. Learn the truth about how mistakes are really “gifts”! This class is for those brand new to sketch comedy and for those with some experience.
