Meet Our Faculty

Scott Phelps (Citadel Artistic Director)

Scott is in his 7th year as the Artistic Director at Citadel, where he directed “And Neither Have I Wings To Fly”, “A Nervous Smile”, “Picasso at the Lapin Agile”, “All in the Timing”, and the inaugural Citadel production of “3 Scoops” in 2002. He has directed in NYC, and in his home state of California. Trained as an actor, Scott, did a 2 year internship at the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts in Santa Maria, California, received his BFA from the University of Utah and met his wife, Ellen at the Actors Theatre of Louisville. After 2 years in New York, where he got his Equity card working with Circle Repertory Theatre (and having his first of 4 children) he returned to continue working in the Chicago theater arena. For 18 years Scott worked for a Promotional company in Racine WI, paying the mortgage and raising his family in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago. In 2002 he got this crazy idea to bring “Chicago Style” theatre to Lake Forest.
Mark Adamczyk

Mark has a B.A. in Theatre from the University of Illinois and has been actively involved with young people and music since receiving certification from the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ, in 1999. Mark is a composer of stage musicals at the nationally famous Theatre Building Chicago Writers Workshop and leads family music and movement classes in a half-dozen different northshore communities. As a faulty member of The Music Institute of Chicago, Mark teaches guitar to just about any kid who will sit still and strum for more than five minutes. He gigs around the Chicago area performing original jazz compositions with his guitar and his laptop at just about any venue where someone will sit still and listen for more than five minutes. Late at night, Mark is developing performance pieces that combines live music with computer generated visuals.

Emma Caywood

Emma Caywood is a Northwestern graduate with degrees in Theater, Gender Studies, and a certificate in Creative Writing for the Media. After graduation, she worked in Hollywood as a literary manager for Torque Entertainment and the director of the American Accolades Screenwriting Competition. She is a drama and writing teacher all over the city and the suburbs for ages 1 to 14, a playwright, a storyteller, an actress, and is studying to be a librarian. She grew up in East Wilmette and is a proud graduate of Central Elementary, Wilmette Junior High, and New Trier High School.


Ellen Lancaster

Ellen Lancaster is back in the Midwest after 20 years in New York City. While in NYC she appeared on Broadway, in TV and Films and was the voice of lots of products on TV and Radio. You can still catch her on many episodes of Law and Order where she is usually looking distressed, smart, or sad!
Jason Miller

Jason Miller is a classically trained actor/singer/dancer/director who has performed both internationally and throughout the US for The Cleveland Playhouse, The Emelin Theatre – NYC, Hope Summer Repertory Theatre, Lakes Region Theatre of New Hampshire, Playmaker’s Repertory Theatre of North Carolina and Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruise Lines. Some familiar credits include the roles of Danny Zuko in Grease, Zach in A Chorus Line, Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun and appearances on the television shows: Becker, Beverly Hills 90210, E.R., and Chicago Hope. Jason has a BFA in Musical Theatre from Northern Kentucky University and an MFA in Acting from Case Western Reserve Univ.
